BRADENTON AREA EDC REPORTS ON RESULTS IN
2016 PROGRESS UPDATE
The Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp. (EDC) issues an annual Progress Update that showcases results from the organization’s work to create a more diverse and sustainable economy in the Bradenton Area.
Highlights from the 2016 Progress Update: “The Build Bradenton Area Plan includes bold strategies for achieving Manatee County’s potential as the business address for the South Tampa Bay region,” said Sharon Hillstrom, EDC president and chief executive officer. “One year after launching our new, multi-year economic development strategy, the EDC and our community partners are forging ahead on initiatives to expand economic opportunities for local residents and existing businesses.”
- Since 2009, the Bradenton Area EDC and its partners have assisted 73 businesses with expansions and relocations.
- These companies are projected to deliver 4,865 jobs and over $2 billion in wages from direct and indirect jobs through 2021.
- Companies the EDC assisted are projected to invest $660 million in capital during the same period.
- Examples of local companies that announced plans in the last year to create jobs and invest capital include Safran Electrical & Power Systems and Marine Concepts.
